Atheists, have you ever tried asking God to reveal Himself to you?

Have you ever, even not believing, just cried out, even in your mind, to God to show Himself and make Himself real, thinking you may be wrong about His existence? And if you did, obviously you didn't feel you heard anything because you're still an atheist...I realize that. I'm jusut asking if you ever tried, a real attempt, not as a joke, perhaps out of desperation or a genuine hope to experience the supernatural, or whatever other serious reason.
